Architect Amrut Deshpande is the designer of my nature-oriented home, completed in 2010. Amrut trained with the late Laurie Baker, a renowned British architect who expertly designed with the Indian landscape and climate in mind;Amrut is carrying on this level of excellence in design that is grounded in the vision that buildings are to rise in harmony with the land. Thanks to Amrut, myhome incorporates manyfeaturesthat economically and ecologically serve multiple purposes includinga filler slab roof angled to allow for rain harvesting and window ledges that are deep enough to serve as seats. I find my home highly suitable as my residency and also know that it will be highly marketable should I choose to sell it.
At the start of our work together, I presented Amrut with several ideas about lighting, ventilation, and visibility.Amrut listened to my objectives and returned with a design that not only implemented all of them, but also framed them in his unique constructions; I was highly pleased.
A jali wall surrounds six-gunta of slightly sloping land, affording me visibility, protection, and alsogrowing room fortwenty trees now twenty-five feet in height. Thanks to Amrut’s design for construction, especially with the window placements,I have a view of greenery from every window, coolness in heat, and a natural shield from heavy rains and high winds.
Architect Deshpande and I enjoyed an excellent working relationship, and I unequivocally recommend him for his unique designs that are both highly functional andartistically pleasing.
I live in joy in my Amrut Deshpande-designed home!
